Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
I am physically located in the Dallas area in Texas. However, all of my services are virtual. Per my Texas licensing rules, you also must be located in Texas for us to meet even though we will meet virtually.
What are your fees?
Individual Counseling $125 per 55 minute hour
Supervision $100/individual; $50/triadic* and $75/group* (if available, dependent on number of current supervisees I have)
Trauma Model Therapy Consultation $80/hour individual; $50/hour group
What is your cancelation policy?
What is “virtual” counseling and how does it work?
Virtual, telehealth, or online counseling are all the same thing – therapy occurring while you are in one location and I am in another. Technology can help connect us across distances and research has shown that virtual counseling can be just as effective as in person counseling. This is because the relationship aspect of counseling can happen anywhere!
You and I will coordinate a time that will work for our schedules. I then will set up a google calendar event that will create a google meet link for us to use. This link is unique to your session and I will email it out as a reminder the morning that you have an appointment with me. You simply click on the link when it is time for our session!
Be sure that you are in a private location to maintain the confidentiality of our sessions. You should be in a room with a closed door if others are in the house with you and you should not be in a public place. This is very important for therapy to occur under the same conditions as in an office space.
Do I have to do EMDR or DBT?
Absolutely not! Just because I have training in EMDR, DBT, etc does not mean that you have to do this type of therapy with me. You and I will discuss what approach I think will be best for you and give you options. We decide together what our work will look like and I will never force you into any technique that you do not want to do. I have other therapy “tricks” up my sleeve as well, so don’t worry if you’re not interested in something I am specifically trained in!
What if I am in crisis?
Please see my crisis resource page here.
How would I obtain my records?
To request your records, please submit a written request via email, secure client portal, or discuss this with your counselor in session.
Red Oak Therapy PLLC reserves the right to restrict and/or redact information from health records in certain cases to protect the client in question. A treatment summary document may be offered in lieu of releasing all records to protect the client.
Typically, the least amount of information necessary is released as a best practice policy to ensure client confidentiality. There is an administrative fee associated.
